Overview

About Jaipur

Founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, Jaipur was one of India’s first planned cities — laid out in a neat grid and famously painted pink to welcome royal guests. Today it is the gateway to Rajasthan and one third of India’s Golden Triangle.

Days here are made for exploring golden forts on the Aravalli hills, walking through the old-city bazaars for block-printed textiles and gemstones, and ending with a sunset over the city from Nahargarh.
